Brandon Arthur earned another UTV win and took his second Pro Lite Challenge Cup victory. He showed up for the final round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, AZ. with a single purpose in mind; to win. He was not content to go quietly into the off season after what was somewhat of a tough season in 2017.
He approached the race as he does everything, by going at it with determination and grit. Brandon builds and preps his own vehicles so his race efforts begin long before he shows up at the race. As he tirelessly toils in the shop, he is already 110% committed. After rolling his MAVTV, Stronghold Motorsports, Pro Traffic Services, KMC Wheels, Yamaha Racing, bLU cRU YXZ at the regional race, he had some work to do to get it into race condition.
He was also gearing up for the final round in Pro Lite and the Challenge Cup race that follows by installing a fresh engine under the hood of his MAVTV, Stronghold Motorsports, Pro Traffic Services, Toyo Tires, Pro Lite.
“We put a lot of work into both cars before this race,” said Brandon, “We rolled the Yamaha at the regional. It gave us only a week to get all the parts together and get it ready to race. We had a lot to do but didn’t cut any corners. On Saturday, we qualified first in the Yamaha.
They pulled a 4 inversion so that put us in the second row. I was able to get the lead around the half way point and from there I just put my head down and tried not to make any mistakes.” Brandon went on to take another win in his MAVTV, Stronghold Motorsports, Pro Traffic Services, KMC Wheels, Yamaha Racing, bLU cRU YXZ; his 5th UTV win, and 8th UTV podium this season. The team’s hard work landed them in 2nd place in the points championship.
In the final round of Pro Lite racing Brandon started 4th and was running in that position when a battery switch malfunctioned. It took a couple laps to get it diagnosed and repaired. The MAVTV, Stronghold Motorsports, Pro Traffic Services, Toyo Tires, KMC Wheels team refused to give up, and returned to the race. They finished the race but a few laps down to the leaders. It was a tough season in the Pro Lite truck but the team still managed to finish in the top five in the season long points championships. Many teams would consider a top 5 finish in the points to be great results but the MAVTV team is always striving for number one.
“Sunday we qualified 2nd fastest in the Yamaha and started the race in 5th,” said Brandon, “We were just not able to make any passes during the race and had a hard fought battle to finish in the money in 3rd place. For the Pro Lite Challenge Cup race we got lucky. We missed the set up in qualifying a little bit and ended up 6th. They pulled a 6 for the inversion so we started on the front row.
I knew we had a strong truck for the track conditions and got the lead in the first corner. We put our heads down and ran our own race. Taking the win and getting the $10,000 prize money was a great way to end the season for our team. We had a rough year, and feels great to end it on a high note!
