Accounts of fender bashing battles on the course, yarns of pit crews whittling a new part out of a cactus during a pit stop or flipping end over end before landing on the wheels all make for great stories. Off-road racing offers plenty of subject matter for crazy tales but sometimes a race with no drama is exactly what a team needs.
That was the case for “The Stinger” Brandon Arthur at the SNORE Battle at Primm. Brandon has been very busy constructing his new Prolite short course truck, competing in Skills USA automotive competition and rebuilding his HRT Motorsports / Pro Traffic Services / Competitive Metals / Rigid Indsturies LED Lighting Trophy Truck. The Trophy Truck was damaged after a horrible crash last season when a steering component let go at over 100 miles per hour.
After doing major surgery on the truck, it was good to have a solid race where everything went smoothly. That’s not to say he wasn’t pushing the truck. Brandon had tough competition from several Trophy Trucks in the field running in the lead pack and more importantly finishing both days of the two day event. His consistent driving resulted in a second place overall.
“Our race went very well,” said Brandon, “We had no problems with the truck, it ran smooth and solid; the FOX shocks were working great in the deep whoops. It was good to have a strong finish with no problems. Last time we parked it, it was in pieces. We will just have to dust it off and check all the critical components before the next race, it’s ready to go.”
Brandon’s second place overall at Battle at Primm was a great way to start the 2014 season. He put in a solid performance both days and with the Trophy Truck dialed in, he can now concentrate 100% on getting the Prolite ready for the track. New sponsors Magnaflow Exhaust, Aeromotive Fuel Systems,Trailready Beadlock Wheels, Mastercraft Safety & FiberwerX Off-Road Fiberglass join Pro Traffic Services, Competitive Metals, Rigid Industries LED Lighting, HRT Motorsports, F&L Racing Fuels, FOX Racing Shox, Maxima Racing Oils, Wirefab, Summers Brothers, ECP Powder Coating and Bink Designs to support Brandon’s Prolite effort in Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series competition. When time permits, he will be back behind the wheel of his bright yellow Trophy Truck in the desert. Doing double duty is just the thing to keep Brandon challenged on and off the dirt.
